A daily AI summary of email and calendar: what it is and what it can tell you
A daily briefing is a short text that crosses your mail, calendar, tasks and the weather to tell you about the day before you open it. Here is how it is built and what it must not do.
The short answer: it is half a screen of text summarising what you have today. It is generated once a day by crossing four sources — what is in the calendar, what is due in tasks, what has arrived in the inbox and what the weather will do — and it is read before you open the inbox. It is not a chat, it does not answer for you, and it sends nothing in your name.
What a useful briefing contains
A summary that merely repeats the list of events adds nothing: the calendar already shows that. The value is in the crossing.
- What collides. Two appointments back to back in different places, or a task due today on an afternoon that is already full.
- What arrived and affects today. Last night's email that moves this morning's meeting.
- What needs preparing. The document attached to the eleven o'clock meeting, if you authorised Drive reading.
- What constrains the day from outside. Rain at exactly the hour you meant to walk.
How ours is built
A model writes the text, but it does not invent the data: everything is handed to it already resolved, dates included. We learned the hard way that asking a model to do calendar arithmetic ends with tomorrow's reminder created for today, so "today" and "tomorrow" are computed on the server and passed in as anchors.
The call does not go to an AI provider we hold an account with in the product's name: it goes through Sinergia's central gateway, which picks the engine and records the cost. That means the day the provider changes, nothing changes in your account.
During the free beta there is one briefing per account per day, with up to three regenerations if the first one comes out with partial data, and a global monthly spending ceiling. The limit is deliberate: a summary regenerated every ten minutes is not more useful, only more expensive.
What it does not do
- It does not answer email on its own. It can prepare a draft if you ask; sending is your call.
- It does not delete or cancel anything. Voice commands, for instance, can only navigate, refresh or create a task or an event — never touch what already exists.
- It is not a search engine over your whole life. The briefing looks at a window of days, not your entire history.
- It does not replace reading the mail that matters. It reduces how much you have to read; it does not excuse you from the part that counts.
Why it is read before the inbox, not after
Opening email first means starting the day on other people's agenda. A summary read beforehand lets you decide the order of attack with the facts in front of you. - Does the daily summary read all my email?
- No. It works with recent messages and with whatever affects the day being summarised, not with the account's full history. What is sent and how long it is kept is written down in the privacy and retention pages.
